Power Quality Analyzers are typically used for troubleshooting or forensic investigation of power deviations that result in failure or miss-operation of end use equipment. Typical measurements are sags, swells, transients and harmonics. Power Demand Analyzers or Energy Analyzers are used to understand power consumption, load distribution, electric demand usage patterns, and associated costs. Typical measurements are watts, volt amps, power factor and demand. Modern Power Analyzers are multi-channel (current and voltage) portable devices that incorporate both Power Quality and Power Demand analysis. These new instruments are capable of monitoring a site for a period of time to give the user a better understanding of their power usage and quality of supply.
