ISO, ISO 9000 and ISO 9001:2008

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world's largest developer of voluntary International Standards. International Standards give state of the art specifications for products, services and good practice, helping to make industry more efficient and effective. Developed through global consensus, they help to break down barriers to international trade.

The ISO 9000 family of standards addresses various aspects of quality management. The standards provide guidance and tools for companies and organizations who want to ensure that their products and services consistently meet customer's requirements and that quality is consistently improved.

ISO 9001:2008 sets out the criteria for a quality management system and is the only standard in the family that can be certified. It can be used by any organization, large or small, regardless of its field of activity. In fact ISO 9001:2008 is implemented by over one million companies and organizations in over 170 countries. The standard is based on the eight principles of quality management: Customer Focus, Leadership, Involvement of People, Process Approach, System Approach to Management, Continual Improvement, Factual Approach to Decision Making and Mutually Beneficial Supplier Relationships.

How did TRS-RenTelco achieve ISO 9001:2008 certification?
TRS-RenTelco's quality management system has been certified continuously since the mid 1990's. Det Norske Veritas (DNV), a certification body, initially certified our system to the ISO 9002:1994 standard and later to the ISO 9001:2000 standard in December 2002.

TRS-RenTelco changed certification bodies in September 2006 from DNV to UL DQS, at the time Underwriters Laboratory (UL), and transitioned to the ISO 9001:2008 standard in September 2009.
