A sweep generator is a device that produces a repetitive waveform that moves across a defined frequency range. These devices contain an electronic oscillator, a circuit that is capable of creating a repetitive waveform that can be controlled through the defined range. Sweep generators can often produce triangle, square, multi-segment and Multi-interval sweep ramps. These instruments can generally produce variable-phase and off-sets while maintaining high linearity.
