There are a wide range of general purpose amplifiers used in the RF test and measurement environment. Generally, general purpose amplifiers are used as gain blocks to amplify a weak signal, reduce the system noise figure, protect an input device or just improve branch losses. In many applications, the amplifier is used as a broadband gain block with a guaranteed gain and response flattness criteria.
